Scott C BIG SHOW: Opening Night Memories

Hello, everyone!!

It’s been two weeks since the opening of the Scott C. BIG SHOW: Retrospective exhibition and I am still enjoying the glow from the experience. Spoke Art sent over some photos from the opening that I would like to share with you all! Some of you are in these. The rest of you may imagine yourselves mulling about in these shots. I shall also imagine you there.

BUT there is still time to check out the exhibition in person! It will be on view through Saturday, June 28th at 210 Rivington St. New York, NY 10002. For additional information on hours and works available, please email info@spoke-art.com.

AND NOW TO ENJOY SOME PHOTOGRAPHIC MEMORIES OF OPENING NIGHT! I shall make some comments as we go.

I appreciate so much everyone that braved the rain to come to opening night! Thank you so much! I tried my best to draw portraits for everyone in line. The always wonderful Joe helped me keep track of things AND keep dry with his red umbrella. What a great dude. All praise that dude.

The crew at Spoke Art did an incredible job installing the show. Seeing everything together in those collections really made my heart swell. I had never shown any of those big pop culture paintings, so it was pretty exciting to see them on the wall living together. Took me back through the years! I am very happy to imagine them going to loving homes.

I enjoyed seeing the FAMOUS OBJECTS series together on a wall like that. Like a big famous object quilt similar to the ones my Mother used to make. They were originally painted for a poster for Paul Scheer and Amy Nicholson’s smash hit film discussion podcast UNSPOOLED. One of my favorite podcasts of all time. If you haven’t listened to it, you should. You will love it. I hope to paint more famous objects because they are fun to paint.

Some babies came.

I did try to sketch people in the gallery as much as I was able. I enjoy sketching people because it gives me a chance to meet and chat with folks!

The front wall was devoted to some of my favorite directors and their characters. These paintings were made specifically for this show, but is the beginning of a new series i hope to continue for as long as I can! They are called THE GATHERINGS. Expect more of them in the future.

The last section consisted of all my other projects: picture book paintings and studies, illustration work, and just paintings of things I enjoy like dinosaurs, dogs, and underwater creatures. But everyone is having a pretty good time across the board.

We did have a number of prints available at the show that will go up at various times in the future. Keep an eye on Spoke Art and my newsletters and socials to get updates on those.

An advance copy of my new book CABIN HEAD AND TREE HEAD sat overlooking the festivities. Then it hopped back in my backpack to fly with me back to my home in Los Angeles. It doesn’t come out until September, but you can pre-order it HERE! Do it!

THANK YOU FOR COMING, EVERYONE! And THANK YOU SPOKE ART! I love all of you!

See you at ALA in June and San Diego Comic Con July!
